This is a portrait of my D&D character with her family! The Phalen family are hereditary werewolves due to a deal made by an ambitious ancestor. He was fed up with how weak he was as a fennec vulpin, and now all his bloodline have "The Gift". The homebrew island where they live is inhabited by other beast-folk, such as wolfkin, that the Phalens can easily impersonate in their were-forms to secure more lucrative or physically-challenging work. Some of the older generations used to even cropped their ears (like Orla, the scarred female in the back row) to look more like their wolfkin counterparts, though most do not go to that extreme.

As the family members age, they tend to spend most of their time in their were-forms, since their old bones hurt less. There are non-fennec vulpins and wolfkin in the family, but everyone married in either is a werewolf, or made a werewolf shortly before joining.
