One of my first works that opened a new sketch book. I don't even know who to take it to.
________
Dryads (other -Greek. δρυάδες, unit h. δρυάς, from δρῦς - tree, in particular oak) - in ancient Greek mythology, forest nymphs, patronesses of trees. A very numerous category of nymphs.
Sometimes dryads were named after the names of trees. The oldest known nymphs are dryads, born from drops of Uranus' blood and living in Ash (meliades).
Dryads are the few of the nymphs who are mortal. It was believed that dryads are inseparable from the tree with which they are connected and die when the tree dies.
There was a belief that people planting trees and caring for them enjoyed the special protection of tree nymphs. Dryads will not let him disappear into the forest if he suddenly got lost or something happened to him. And for unjustified damage or destruction of trees, dryads could severely punish a person, for example, deprive him of reason.
_________
Centaur (other -Greek. κένταυρος) — in ancient Greek mythology, wild, mortal creatures with the head and torso of a man on the body of a horse, inhabitants of mountains and forest thickets. Centaurs accompany the god of wine Dionysus, are distinguished by their violent temper and intemperance.
Presumably, centaurs were originally the embodiment of mountain rivers and turbulent streams. In heroic myths, some centaurs are educators of heroes, others are hostile to them. According to Greek myths, they inhabited the Pilion Mountains in Thessaly, the Foloi forests in Elida and the Malean peninsula in southern Laconia. Subsequently, myths about centaurs figure in Roman culture, and even later their images fall into medieval European bestiaries. Currently, centaurs are very popular characters in fantasy works.
