The eastern mountains were a popular vacation area for Katta and Human alike. The former went there to ritualistically celebrate new marriages, the latter for relief from the dry heat of the desert.
The relative coolness of the mountain air was much more comfortable for her, yet another difference between herself and Shema as the two began to grow apart. But Chaaya was also starting to notice that butterflies, and other flying insects, would occasionally follow her around. It embarrassed her, but when she asked Shema she was told she didn't smell bad, leaving her occasional companions as an occasional mystery.
