April will go down as a month of absolute extremes of both really bad and really good.
Some Very Good Things
Good things did make their way into the month.
The most notable is that the Vapvautia Patreon picture with its alts became one of my favorite pictures I have ever produced in the 15+ years I’ve been doing art. The dynamax version to this is my favorite and is a Patreon exclusive; you would have to go there to see it. But I love it so much you may see me show off cropped versions of it. >3>
My tenant officially moved in and started paying rent. I’m hoping going through May will finally make this whole thing sink in that I have another check coming in.
I conquered the weed problem out back of my building including dumping dirt piles that had built up over many years; they had weeds growing in them on top of the worn asphalt. When I first bought the building, it looked like a jungle back there…
I completed my own taxes; something I didn’t think I would do well on my own for how convoluted they are. For Americans, to give you an idea: My tax return is 25+ pages long….
The tenant offered to have her husband, who was a career painter, to paint the ceilings of my building at her own expense. It helped clean up the place so well.
Beaten Down So Hard
During a two week stretch, my life literally felt like one of those comedy shows/movies where everything that could go wrong was going wrong to a substantial extent. It was so ridiculous that you almost had to laugh.
The two week stretch included stuff like one of the hardest Helldays (newspaper job) I’ve ever worked, probably in the top 10, just randomly dropped on me without any warning. And mind you I’ve worked around 600 of these in my life.
Other stuff included spilling a paint container on concrete and spending hours trying to clean it at my building property’s front entrance, fussing to get a door to the place reinstalled with tons of issues, and rushing to finish all the remaining things that needed to get done for the keys to exchange hands with tenant.
And then probably the worst of it all, discovering my mom had substantial water damage and a lot of mold in her room that had been building up for months, possibly years, due to a problem with our HVAC system. I got to take what I learned from working on the building home to try and mitigate the problem.
Also with all this was the dilemma of filing my mom’s taxes during these two weeks, and we know how difficult filing taxes can be. A doodle I did for the month of Nikita the accountant Meowstic illustrated my frustrations. |3
There were other things that happened at other points in the month including tough bookstore days, more tough Helldays, contractor scheduling and yardwork. x-x
What Art Work Will Look Like
With the core part of the building work out of the way, you would think I would have more time for art but not necessarily. Things that will start taking more of my time:
• Roof patching: I likely won’t have a company available to do work on my building’s roof for a long time, so I will probably be doing some patch work up there, including going up on the roof and sweeping water off the roof.
• Fixing my mom’s room is likely going to fall on me to do myself. I’m gonna have to learn a new art in Drywalling and maybe a few other things to get the job done. >.>’
• Yard work: Now that winter is over I have more to do with our lawn; it is quite the wreck as I neglected it for many months
But in the grand scheme of things, I should have slightly more time to do some degree of artwork than I have in past months.
My Thanks
Thank you all for supporting me; I deeply appreciate it from the bottom of my heart! I still hope what I do helps put a smile on your face and brighten your day in these dark times we life in.
