The YCH selling/auctioning scene is new to me but I like the prospects of it. YCH.art is a site focused on that but at the same time I don’t know if it is a suitable platform for the art/animations I’m creating now and plan to create more of in the future. So I want to explain what I’m doing with these two YCHs and what I plan to do with YCHs in general moving forward.
Firstly, what can one expect from a KristinTree YCH?
Backgrounds/Composition
To me the biggest boon, for artist and client, that comes with YCHs is being able to see the background and general composition of an art piece before it is purchased. Backgrounds take a considerable amount of time to draw, and it can be difficult to envision a character in a scene without some kind of rough draft to look at. By finishing the background, and loosely planning the composition of a YCH, both the client and I can "get to the good part" faster. Also in most cases I will remove the cost of the background from the YCH entirely because typically it was a background that I wanted to draw anyways and selling it as a part of a YCH gets good use out of it.
Cheaper Costs
My YCH prices are decided using this method... I consider how much the illustration/animation would cost as a normal commission, I add up the poses and detail costs, then I cut that price in half because the general composition is already complete which is the hardest part of a commission in my opinion. The background, in most circumstances, is thrown in for free.
Uniqueness
I consider the background/composition of an illustration/animation the core of a YCH. This means that, unless stated otherwise, a client is purchasing the background and ensuring that the "specific" background is not used in another YCH. Note that the "idea" of a background may be reused. For example I may draw hundreds of very similar looking forest backgrounds, but in that case each of the forests would be drawn and colored from scratch not copy pasted.
The blank “stand-in” characters are another story. I may reuse the stand-ins because the client does not have to strictly adhere to the poses they present. Also there are only so many ways to pose a character, so expect to see more than one YCH with poses, like crouching, running, jumping, ect. The stand-ins are either heavily edited or completely drawn over when a YCH is purchased, so I can assure that the client will receive unique artwork that is equivalent in quality to the amount of money they paid for it.
Reused backgrounds
I will reuse backgrounds, copy paste them into more than one YCH, under certain circumstances. For example I may offer two very similar YCHs that have one key feature altered. Like the focus character may be female presenting in one version of the image but male presenting in the other.
Announcements
I'm still figuring out the best way to handle the actual selling process of YCHs. Personally I don't love the idea of "First come first serve". I would prefer if all my potential clients had equal opportunity to see and purchase a YCH that appeals to them. I tried auctioning two YCHs using the YCH.art website already. I can see myself using this site, or similar ones, in the future but I also want to try some different methods. One of those methods is the use of social media announcements.
So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to post an announcement to my primary social media/ art sites about three days before actually posting a new YCH. If one wishes to purchase the YCH then they can comment on it, and say they wish to purchase it, or email/pm me.
Technically this isn't a true “first come first serve system” because if multiple clients wish to purchase the same YCH at around the same time then whoever is able to provide payment sooner will be given the slot. If multiple clients can pay at about the same time then I will have to choose who gets the slot based on my discretion and other factors.
TL;DR
These two YCHs are still up for sale! Since I am no longer selling them through YCH.art I can set up a payment plan if needed, details in the link below!

Thank you for reading this update! I plan to make more YCHs in the future so keep your eyes open for that if you are interested in getting one :3
