oh god look how ugly they are!!
Just thought it would be funny if I took a quick snapshot of my birds. The blackhead is Enzo (black-headed caique) and the orangehead is Isaac (white-bellied caique). They're in the middle of their molt right now and as such, their plumage doesn't look its best. Most people don't notice it, but since I am wayyyy meticulous about my parrots, I look at them and go
"oh god please let those feathers grow back! grow back normal and colorful, not weird and dark and stripey or not at all!!"
They must be perfect! PERFECT! But I'd love 'em even if they were little naked chickens (right after having a heart attack if it happened).
(sorry about the crap photo quality. the light isn't great in my room)

I'll show you an ugly bird! http://tigerwolfvix.deviantart.com/.....81271#/d1jjwxz
I got her FREE at a little bird convention thing, and since she seemed otherwise healthy I kept her... kinda expected her to croak from whatever sickness she obviously had, or grow feathers back, or SOMETHING. But no, she stayed that way for nearly two years.

Aww, I get like that to when my babies go threw molting. I'm like; "No, you to don't look pretty enough, must grow them back to be my pretty babies again."
lol.
But it wasn't as bad when my mother {was being a stupid stupid ass} and took them outside with her without their harnesses and they feel of the floor and my dogs get them. ;=;
NO NEED TO FEAR!
I kicked those canines asses and saved my babies!
At lest I didn’t save their tails . . . they looked liked a pair of lovebirds for a few weeks while their tail feathers grew back.
{they are now forbidden to even go in the backyard, EVER}
AND YOUR BIRDIES ARE CUTE EVEN IF THEY ARE ISH MOLTING!

Ack you always keep a close eye on small animals around predators!
My babies are trained to stay on my shoulder, plus I clip their wings for safety (an uneven cut for isaac especially, since he's a good flier). they love going outside, but Enzo loves to taunt dogs when she sees them. I always have to do a juggling act with her whenever a dog is around.
"must get dog! must nip nose!!"

Yeah, I had to give me mother a long talk . . .
But, I have these things called 'Flight Suits' that they wear if I ever go outside with them. =D
Kermit (my male) stays on my shoulder, but Kiwi (female) seems to think it's ok to climb up on top of mommies head and get all tangled in it. -.-
So I have to keep putting her back on my shoulder.

They make then for all sizes, even Parakeets and Lovebirds . . . but mine are GCC {green cheek conures}, they 'looked' like lovebirds cause their tail feathers were eaten >->

Yeah, I've had to clean up a lot of poo growing up (many cats, an awkwardly house-trained dog, ferret), and parrot poop is the easiest thing. Usually it's just pureed fruit and veggies with some urates. It's only nasty if they go right after they wake up in the morning. THEN it's like I own a GOOSE and not caiques.
Beautiful caiques! Just came across this picture. They make flight suits, but they also make something called an Aviator Harness that's a bit more secure. I keep my guys fully flighted since I have cats and it makes them happy, so the Aviator is awesome. They can be taken outside and on a flight line to fly all over the place. http://www.theparrotuniversity.com/.....or_harness.php Though I have to deal with one of my conures spending the first five minutes staring at me and waddling around like the harness weighs 90 lbs. Watch out with the clip. :) Depending on the type I know sometimes birds can still get a bit of lift at times.
I like that desciption, I am rather fond of jack russels.
I have cockatiels, rainbow lorikeets, scaly breasted lorikeets and a sun conure at the moment, and I am on the look out for a pair of quaker parrots atas well.
Caiques seem to be a bit on the expensive side here still and there doesn't seem to be many white bellieds around either.
I think I am definitely going to do more research and keep my eye out for them
