The world before's gods punished Susie and Driscoll, shattering their relics until they were dust.
Susie was punished for her world-warping by being overstuffed with the opulence she sought to give her people.
Driscoll was punished for his mind control by having his body expanded with air, his own mind unable to do anything but submit.
Their expansion immobilised them, but though the gods thought they had taken their powers, they were mistaken.
