Servals have the largest ear to body ratio in the felid family, much like Fennecs have the largest in the canid family.

The markings on the back of the ears are thought to look like eyes, to dissuade predators moving in from behind.

Wow, just stunning. Love the ears, too, and the paws... Not only do they look amazing, but they must give the most fantastic scricthes too! ^_^

As for the party... Awww, sorry you missed it; we missed you too. *sad face* My iphone hasn't been working right for a few days now (I dropped it and it didn't crack or anything, but now barely has reception and does some weird things--need to have it looked at), so I've been using my work mobile instead... Next time, you can always email me or the lion for directions or for whatever. The good news is that we're trying to make this more or less a monthly gathering again, so there will be another one either towards the end of this month or the beginning of March. We'll make a post a week or so in advance.

Thanks. Realism of the serval, including markings, but with a cheetah-sized tail, was the goal, and Lance delivered on this.

Amazing costume, amazing character!

How much did it cost to get a commission like this made?

This was a detailed costume by an experienced suitmaker, but we also had the fur itself specially made as a stretch fur, which doubled the cost. Expect into the 5 figures for a suit like this. However, there were many high cost items (fur, paws) that could be left out and drop the cost by 2/3rds.

Those claws gives me the creeps in a good way. So awesome suit, murrrh~~~
