Awesome writing, I like the detail you take with explaining how the emotions flow around after a terrible loss.. The only little peeve I had while reading this(bear in mind it subtracts nothing from the reading experience) was that the whole situation with his mother passing away felt a little rushed.. But that's it! You did a great job as far as my untrained eye can see!
