This is just how my wings hang up on my wall, but it makes for a nice little sculpture piece. I am a winged calico-tiger thing. Kinda complicated, but none the less true. These wings are made from scratch and are flexible and posable. I'm open for commissions and will post more of my costume-related prices soon.
P.S...The mask is from my Zombie March days and was a gift from my metals teacher.

Sure, I don't mind giving tips! The best thing to remember is that when you make any wing set that's bigger than your hand, make sure to keep the main frame work all in one piece. This way you don't have to worry about things falling apart at the seams half way through wearing them. I like to use a nice standard 16 gauge wire (found just about anywhere) and make the outter fingers, arms and bracing all in one long strip. From there, make the other fingers in as few pieces as possible (again, to keep from falling apart) so bend the next two fingers in half from one long piece of wire. Twist the folded piece around the finger joint and bind. The shaping is easily adjustable once bound. I like to use just good ol' tape for that. Glue of any sort won't cut it. Build up forms with tape and foam. Look at images of wings that you want to copy. I use a bat wing. Pay attention to details! A wing finger is not just a line - it has joints! For membranes I like to use this nifty stuff you find at fabric stores. It's like a backing for other materials, almost like sew-in-starch and is translucent. You can also iron it to itself because one side has built-in glue, so that's neat, too. Paint with acrylics. Secure with elastic.

Thank you for the offer, but I've pretty much got that set covered. Please check out the rest of my gallery. If you want tips on anything else, just let me know and I'll be glad to help. Good luck on your wings. I'm making a tiny, pin-on set right now. Keep an eye on me and you'll see them soon!
