Here are the eight pagan festival and where they are in a Vedic Astrology Chart. The next festival is Belletaine or Walpurgis Night. It is called "Walpurgisnacht" in Germany. If you watched Disney's "Fantasia" this music and cartoon piece "Night on Bald Mountain" represents that festival. It is sort of like Halloween during the spring time. On Belletaine, ancient people decorated their houses and property with May Day flowers (such as lilacs, violets, magnolias, forsythias, apple blossoms, and primroses). No one was allowed to ask for anything from anyone. Meats, baked goods, and spicy foods were served for the feast. At night, people would create a bonfire and all the people in town would surround the fire. No other fire was allowed to be set. The people stayed close to the fire so as not to get snared away by ghosts, monsters, and dark sorcerers. Belletaine was in honor of Bellanus, the Celtic sun god. His sacred animal was the horse (YEAH!) Belletaine takes place every April 30th-May 2nd.
