Yes. Writing technobabble is a definite skill in and of itself. There was one time that I needed a techno-babbly word (for a short story) that would sound like some sort of scientific tool that measured something. So, I thought maybe it should end in "meter"... and, then, I thought maybe it should have to do with thermodynamics... so... a thermo - meter! Which sounded really great in my head. The moment I typed it out, well... yeah, it suddenly didn't look so impressive any more.
