Nikki, caught in an unexpected gravity well with low fuel and no way to engage the hyperdrive, lost communications one fateful night. Her ship, and her, was thought to be dead. No rescue team was ever sent out. The sector was identified and flagged as a dangerous location, for many years nobody would even travel near for fear of meeting her fate. Though, nobody truly knew her fate... yet.
She was still alive, albeit trapped in a quite unusual body. A dragoness, made of dust and gas, scattered star matter and a few hundred solar systems. It wasn't a terrible fate, really... she could be in the stars forever, and didn't even need life support systems. Such a dragon nebula is transparent, and can be passed through.
