I've had an uptick in recent questions on how I became a furry, how I got involved in the fandom, and so on, and it's a legitimate question, so I decided to write it up and put it online for people to view and reference. Not 100% of the details are here because obviously there's things I'm not comfortable sharing, but this is all true in a broad strokes sense.

EDIT 3/30/25: Renamed the piece from "How I Became A Furry" to "Finding My Flock", as it's more clever, and because I no longer feel I "became" a furry. Rather, I always was a furry (defined here as "interested in anthropomorphic animals"), and it simply took time for me to discover the term for it, and that there were others who shared this interest.
