Luminescence - Polunoch & Geosaiko1267 [COLLAB]

In this world, even in the darkness of the night very few creatures or plants gave off any sort of light. The firefly was one of them, but like its namesake its glow was warm. No cool blues like the markings that spotted Musaamik's flanks and shone reflected from her eyes. It made her stand out so very much, and she was keenly aware that her camouflage no longer disguised her. The lack was just one more reminder of the fact that she was very far from home, and when she passed a gnarled, twisted tree in the daytime that had become overgrown with fungi she had not given it a second glance. But under the light of the moon that doused the forest in a cool silver haze that same dead tree lit up with a familiar blue glow from the mushrooms that sprouted from the trunk. The aalukris almost couldn't stop herself from clambering up the tree, her claws digging into the soft, rotten bark even as she settled as high on the curving trunk as could hold her weight. Her round pupils reflected the same blue glow in the night as the mushrooms themselves, and for the first time since she had gotten here Musaamik felt like she had found a small piece of home.

polunoch. I was incredibly, incredibly lucky to have this commission happen. These two artists do not normally collaborate with others and I am honored they did this for me. Both these artists no longer draw like this; Geosaiko1267 is no longer drawing non-natural creatures and Polunoch no longer draws full illustrations. Neither of them will be posting this artwork to their galleries for these reasons, but they have given me permission to post it myself.
