Hello everyone,
it is finally done after many months of sitting on my To-Do list: a fully illustrated piece of fanart for the animated video "Children of the Night" by DuoCartoonist from almost 10 years ago.
This video still is absolutely gorgeous and holds dear memories to me, which is why I wanted to draw an image inspired by it and its featured characters, which of course is Princess Luna as my favourite MLP princess and the three main fillies we see in the orphanage. It was my goal to create something beautiful, outstanding, something magical, capturing the beauty of the night and Luna herself.
I have to admit that it was quite a challenge to get this piece done as I re-worked the background multiple times and tried to keep a steady style throughout the illustration, combining the background and foreground in a fluid way. Working with both very dark and very bright colours made it challenging and rich of contrast, which is something I appreciate. I love how I managed to draw Princess Luna and the fillies here while the image is far from perfect. I just had a blast finally finishing this big and special image, hoping that people like you would enjoy it, too!
