Thirteen’s scene was intended for later in the chapter. The scene that was originally going to happen on this page wasn’t working right; I wasn’t feeling it for reasons I couldn’t figure out. So I stopped trying to write around whatever the problem was and I tossed the script completely.
It actually feels better for Thirteen to have this revelation now rather than later on. It adds an extra bit of positivity as the story climbs down from the big action pages.

Thirteen on this page reminds me a lot of one of my characters. Flopsy was a "Living Construct", so she's not used to thinking of herself as a Person. (Constructs are mindless golems, so there's never been one that can think and feel before.) But since she's come to Earth, everyone's expecting her to be one, and won't give her "orders". So she's feeling very lost in terms of what she should be doing. She's been jumping from emergency to emergency, and having down-time makes that uncertainty nearly unbearable at times. Especially after she was forced to violate the single biggest rule a Construct must follow: A Construct Cannot Kill a Human.
She's still getting used to this whole "having friends" concept. Especially ones that aren't asking her to do things for them, but like her even when she's not "useful". ^_^;;
