I'd heard of it as a child because my parents played it but never bothered to teach us. My Dad was the Northeast Ohio Canasta champ back in the 1940s, and that I learned (no idea how to play today).
A classmate cleaned me out at Gin in high school and I continue to avoid the game. One job I had I worked with a bunch of Setback fiends but they took the job way too seriously. A former girlfriend's family loved Military Whist and she and her sister taught me to play. It's another bidding and trick-taking game like Bridge or Euchre; it's probably been 40 years since I played it.
I never learned to play Poker well, and with two enormous casinos nearby, that's probably a good thing.
