Nostradamus the crux was a creation of Dr. Oswald Many cruxs are genderless yet some are male/female. In the story, cruxs are made by the dead bodies of humans or animals. The doctors at St. Marks used the bodies of the patients that died in the insane asylum to create cruxs. So many patients died that the backyard of the sanitarium was overfilled. So to preserve room (and cover their liability) they used the recently dead to turn into cruxs. They used the cruxs primarily as secret experiments and personal servants. Nostradamus was made by Dr. Oswald. Unlike most of the other cruxs; he was created male. Dr. Oswald kept him a secret from the other doctors to keep his successful secret hidden. If they found out he made a crux male they could end up trying to make a female to breed them to make more slaves. Dr. Oswald wanted Nostradamus to be free of that so he kept his existence confidential. Nostradamus stayed by Oswald until the day Oswald was murdered by the patient. Nostradamus avenged Oswald by throwing the patient out a window to his death. He is an upcoming character in the next chapter.
