The SP NW-2 were shopped in 1971-72 in Houston and became model NW-2e, they had engines and electrics that could be upgraded at a reasonable cost. The 567A engines were rebuilt with 645 components, and the headlights changed to twin sealed beam types, amongst other things.

The NCRy appears to have installed the original style headlamps when it restored the locomotive.
