masked palm civet (Paguma larvata)

This is a warm up sketch now that I have time to start drawing again. There are several things that I still owe people and I'm working on a stack of unfinished sketches.

Beautiful sketch! I like her clothing design with the simple skirt and belt. The wading rough water looks great too.

It was supposed to be a viewing tank. Even drew a little fish in it. Thats the kind of detail that gets lost trying to take pictures of a drawing with my phone. I'll wait to post the more detailed work I've go going when I can get back to a scanner.

Oh, but I did notice the little fish. Perhaps there is a small language barrier between Dutch and English. In Dutch the small laboratory cuvet as the larger rectangular transparent containers used in the field to get a close look at fish, share the same name.

Really cool setup she has there -- if only we could all be blessed with this kind of field work. I love all your viverrids, but masked palm civets are among my favorite.

Glad you have more time for drawing again!

There is a lot of variation in that species to play with. Rodents and viverrids have always been my favorite to draw because of their diversity.

It's thanks to your pencil work that I started to learn the importance of stroke direction. Your fur texturing is beautiful to study. And the practicality of her outfit does not outweigh her allure.

I do focus on my character's fur quite a bit. I try to think about how clothing, lengths, and water change the quality of it. It would be fun to play with static effects but that tends to be trickier than expected.

Just a sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 copy paper. I know I should use better products but I don't.
