Well, you have to have a portfolio FULL of designs and drawings of clothes, and most folks who get into the industry go to design school first. It isn't hard or long, but going is a bit pricey. As for the pay, it's one of those industries where the longer you stay, the more you get payed. Pay is about 60,000 USD a year, on average.
