At last, I have obtained MORE BUG, in the form of GOTH MANTIS.
Wisteria is another new addition to the colorful cast of elastic doofuses I've made thus far, specifically to further fill out my quota for qt buggos. Like Ani, Wisty's on the small side, measuring only around 7cm tall, maybe 9 if she extends her big mantis legs all the way in an attempt to look intimidating. Of course, this means she's a head or two bigger than Ani's 5cm, which isn't too much of a big deal, besides that her overall size is a little ill-suited to the dollhouse on the coffee table that Ani lives in, which Wisteria kinda just moved herself into. It doesn't help that despite her chosen appearance, she's a bit of an inattentive airhead at times, attention frequently buried in the tiny bug-sized phone she's hardly seen without. Which is a bit of a danger if you're a little bug in a big world, leaving her semi-frequently blindly blundering underfoot or into unfortunate situations. Still, the device does at least give her an effective means of communication, however, as also like Ani, she lacks the proper mouthparts for common Aeran speech...Or it would, anyway, if she didn't elect to communicate entirely through emoji. At least their world has a wide array of species-specific emoji for her to use, if nothing else.
Wisty may be prone to acting without thinking at times, especially when her mantid instincts kick in when something that might be food goes waving about in her periphery, but she's most certainly still aware of herself and the effects she can have on those around her (usually). She's far from above flaunting her bountiful assets when she can, especially around Ani, much to the more petite framed ant's chagrin. There's many a time when the disgruntled sugar addict might find her head being used as a resting spot to take a load off her unwarranted roommate's back, something the ant would be a lot more annoyed by if she didn't somewhat secretly enjoy it (not that she'd admit it if asked). Still, despite the conflicts between Ani's envy and desire of her lavender friend's figure, it's often that Wisty pushes her luck a little too far, and finds herself blown up into furniture (usually to replace that which her giant butt broke), or stuffed into a cabinet 1/10th her size via ridiculous ant strength, just to get her bumbling bigness out of the way for a little bit so Ani can relax.
Still, though they may have their differences, the two often get along well enough when they need to. Underneath the envy and irritation, Ani does still like her new companion a fair bit, once she got used to her (and her lovely pillows, among other things), hence why she hasn't fully kicked her to the curb. And in turn Wisty does her best to make herself useful on occasion, even if it's sometimes a little misguided. Such as livestreaming their day to day activities in an effort to raise living funds, which Ani may unwittingly find herself dragged into. She probably wouldn't mind it so much, really, if it didn't seem to frequently end in the two comically overblown or smashed flat from various donation incentives, or challenges to interact with normal sized people or accessories that puts them way in over their tiny heads. Still, it helps the two live comfortably, and less reliant on stealing scraps from the greater lizard household their downscaled domicile resides in. And more than anything, at least Ani isn't so isolated in there any more, whether she wants to be or not. And even moreso when any future bugs might make themselves at home there too.
Holy hell, this little bug's debut is long overdue at this point. What started as an effort to redesign that mantis I drew all of one time several years ago, has since been repeatedly delayed by a variety of factors for entirely too long. I actually first came back to her sometime in October 2021, but lost momentum and only finalized her design about five months later, in March 2022. I can't really fully remember or explain why it took me until only now, over a year later, to finally post her properly, but besides my general lack of diligence in posting things publicly in a timely manner, I think after a certain amount of time I felt like I was supposed to give her proper time to "debut", but I had already moved on to and even posted a few other things, such as other characters like the sea slug Nuri that was much more spur of the moment and fresh in my mind. The reason for that I guess being an old ideal I had about not making so many characters I'd have trouble keeping up with or have distinct purpose for, but let's be real here, I'm long past the point of no return on that one already :V.
Still, it's not like she's been completely unknown this entire time, at least. I showed her around a few places and friends as I often do, so some of you out there will find her familiar. I just didn't quite think it'd be this long until I made the official post, and if nothing else I'll try to better mitigate posting times so I don't leave new stuff in waiting for quite so long.
Either way, due to circumstances around the time of her creation, I don't actually yet have that much content made of her yet either, nor do I know when I'll make any more, given current circumstances. But at least she's out from behind the curtain now, so I don't have doing that potentially clogging up the pipeline on new stuff, whenever it may be.
Oh yeah, and there's a nude alt, over here, though it's mostly just to get a better look at her torso anatomy, and maybe a clearer picture of the tattoo.

Heehe, thank m8, yee. Glad to finally put her out a little more visibly, even if she might still go a bit unseen in terms of falling underfoot, heh. But as is expected the volume of space she takes up might change considerably, so that'll probably help, too :y.
And yee, I thought the dynamic might be fun, though I think some of it came from discussions with various friends, heh. Still should help facilitate all manner of silly nonsense when needed, if nothing else.

Yee, thanke m8. Honestly at first I had thought of making her an orchid mantis, for how fancy those are, but then I realized it might be better to not have to draw something that elaborate every time (and in result just like, not draw her period, oop). So, she just has semi-inspired colors instead, while maintaining the classic mantis shape. Also legit, the whole goth aesthetic came about purely when I went heavy on the eyelashes when in the redesign stages, and I decided fuk it, let's go all the way :y. No regrets, tbh, really happy with how she came out.
Heh, yeah, the "having big scythes for hands" probably makes it difficult whether things are accurately sized or not. Though I'm sure she can figure something out, probably involving a lot of tape, heheh.
And yeah, bit of an inventive way to break out of one's size class, definitely. Might lead to a lack of control on their part but eh, just part of the tradeoff really.
