Reminds me of the UK indie comic 'Bear' which did a satirical one-off of how something similar would happen if the author ever sold the rights for it to be made into a US movie.
The punchline was he also acknowledged that allowing it to be so 'Americanized' meant it would probably make a ton of money at the cost of sacrificing everything that gave the comic its character.
