if you're talking about this: 小学館 (Shōgakukan), then it would be correct to also write the romanization as Shougakukan instead of Shōgakukan. Both are equally correct. And I honestly don't have any idea why some people replace the ō or ou/oo with just o. When people write a Japanese word like that, I immediately read that part as just a short Japanese o sound, when it's supposed to be long. I understand that you mean it to be more like Korooshi/Korōshi, but seeing the romanized form you've put under the hiraganas makes me immediately think of 殺し, 'cause that's how I'd pronounce it when I see it.

But either way, those are just my thoughts from what I've learned with my own research, and a course of Japanese studies behind. I still would like to know why it's correct to write o instead of ō/ou/oo 'cause I haven't really been able to find anything about that myself. But I'm sure there must be something else to it besides people just being lazy or not knowing how to write ō. x.x
