What kind of camera did you use for this? I have an old, $100, 3.2 megapixel camera with digital zoom only and auto-focus only. So, when photographing small things, it's a choice between far away, in focus, and low resolution ; and close, out of focus, but high resolution. Either way, a bug comes out as little more than a colorful smudge.

when I lived in vermont for one horrible fall there were tons of ladybugs on my ceiling

at first it was cute but they would constantly fall onto me and land on my laptop screen at night

That kind of happened at the group home I was living in at the time. There must have been a hundred around the house.
