This one's been a long time comin. Years in planning, constantly changing, being put on the backburners, forgotten about, remembered, forgotten again, worked on, scrapped, restarted, redesigned, the whole shebang.

Once, years back, I'd decided to redesign my characters and bring them away from the Lombax fandom to create my own thing... as derivative as they may be in design, the Kriat stand on their own with a full history spanning centuries and each character with their own story (all of that indefinitely forthcoming).

The problem I kept running into with Eight here is that his design is simple and his style has gone largely unchanged for all these years - and being a staple of my characters and I suppose my official, unofficial 'sona, if you can call him that, Too much design change could potentially render him difficult to recognize at a glance, which is important for recognition. But the design stagnated, and any changes I'd make would ultimately prove to be too busy, taking away from the simple style of his overall design.
To top it all off, as time passed I would come up with new physical traits here and there for the Kriat race and need to incorporate it into the new design, effectively updating, yet outdating the old designs... And having a character reference means that all that changing and trial and error would need to be cemented into an effective new design that incorporated all the new stuff I needed.

So I changed up the color scheme a bit and gave him a vest. That's like.... that's it. After all this time, that's the best way I could conjure up to update the design without overcomplicating it.
And honestly? I think it works. Whether it harkens to the classic design from way back or is just straight up mired in it, It came out looking good enough to finally call it done.

Anyway, Ritter Masser, Alias Eight, A Kriat Taas born on a Taas ship to a Psychologist and an Intrepid and raised primarily on a central planet.
Smart mouthed, impulsive, imaginative... Eight is a Kriat who rarely takes anything seriously if he doesn't see a point to it. Little gets to him and he spends his days wiling away his time working or doing just... whatever might pop into his head.
He's plenty capable in just about anything that interests him and picks up on things fairly quickly. His usefulness is only outmatched by his wandering whimsy.


I'll be doing up a full dossier soon for him, and likely starting a reference sheet for Brag with his own bio as well.
