He didn’t know what he was going to do. Was this how he was going to be from now on? How could he hope to rejoin human civilization looking like this? His hearing had become incredible, but it wasn’t going to help him find a way out. His large feet could make him jump higher, but there was nothing around to get away from or up onto. At least, he hoped that there was nothing in these woods that could mistake him for dinner.
Then he had a thought, a solution perhaps. If all it took was one bite of the apple to change him completely…what if he took another? Could it reverse the process? Newfound courage surged back into him as he picked the bitten apple back up from the grass where he had dropped it.
“What have I got to lose?” he proclaimed to himself as he chomped down with his large ungainly buck teeth, using them to tear off another piece of the fruit.
