Character

Louis Kalasha is a Cyclops, a mutated species of elephants, who are mainly living on islands in the Mediterranean Sea. However, Louis didn't grew up there; his mother married a well-respected French elephant aristocrat from Bourges. Louis lived his youth in a wealthy and priviledged environment, yet he always longed for company of his peers. He didn't have many friends when he was young, as most children shunned him for his Cyclops heritage. But the few friends he did have were close ones, among them his girlfriend and later wife Beatrice, who was just a regular humanthro elephant. They got married, and the future was looking bright for them as they were expecting a child. Unfortunately, fate had different plans for them.

While Louis went to Malta to find more about its roots, the Wellspring War broke out. Terrorist attacks damaged the Wellsprings, the very potent concentrations of magic on Earth, resulting in massive chaotic magic activity, causing massive destruction and casualties. One of these Wellsprings was located in Paris, one of the most powerful ones. The attack caused a huge surge in magic that resulted in an area in a radius of 150 kilometers being swapped with an area of the same size from the surface of Mars. Paris was gone, and the surrounding regions were destroyed by devastating earthquakes, including Bourges. He tried to get in contact with his wife, but after many attempts, he heard the news from the authorities: his wife and unborn child were crushed under their house and hadn't survived. He was filled with grief, which turned into rage. He wanted the people who were responsible for this drama to pay for their deeds. He learned several martial arts to improve his fighting skills, and joined the military in the Wellspring War and fought in the war.

After the war, he felt a big sense of emptiness. His wealth was gone, his family was dead, and he had little left. All he could do was to stay in the army, and train the new recruits, but he kept on asking himself what was the point of all this. That all changed when Terra invented Warp drive and ascended into the galactic community. The aliens who had been observing them for all this time make themselves known to the world and welcome them to the Federation. Louis was eager to undergo a new challenge, and signed up for Starfleet, who was happy to take him as someone with military experience. He worked as ship security member, and once he was stationed at the Pioneer, he was promoted to Chief Security.

On the Pioneer, he found more people who were misfits. Some had experienced traumas just like him, but some others were aliens or other mutated Terran species that were just strange, Nonetheless, they welcomed him as one of their own, and for once he felt like he belonged somewhere. He found a new family in this crew. As one of the oldest crew members, he has mentored several of the young staff members, and he has been enjoying doing that. He's always up for a friendly duel, though one has to be a bit foolish to fight with him; he is hard to beat. Furthermore, he's practicing mindfullness to cope with his traumas, and to have a better control over mind and body as a warrior.

Never call Louis fat, unless you have no problems with being battered and bruised short afterwards...
