They are two halves of an entity once known as Oromoth, which was sealed tightly in a magical stone because it was very dangerous. Its attempts at escape caused the Stone to split in two, and become two beings... New and childlike. They were taken in by a strange, technically undead, crazy old sorcerer named Ishnar and his adoptive son/apprentice Desmond and raised up to be good.

Because of that, they fiercely protect the world they appeared in and are a force for good despite how evil and dangerous the entity they rose from was.

Oromoth died, and in its place rose Izdrath and Eldaron, the Guardians
