A character from the Game of Thrones series.
He and another character named Varys are spy masters who love to act like the knowledge gathered by their spies is almost supernatural. And since at the start of the series magic has been really weakened in the GoT world, people aren't sure whether to believe them or not.

But I assume this in the south, we seen Narklet in the south before and the guard had this white with green stripes outfit who probably is that you are guard or military and its probably in the same trip as its has not been more than a couple of weeks since Elim was stabbed at most.
Vizlet's guards uses wooden breastplate and forehead protection, not great armor but probably works well against Yinglet spears and might save you from an punch or an dagger against an human

Well, my personal theory is that humanity came to this planet via spaceship, established colonies, and then had those colonies collapse for a yet-unknown reason. Either Year 0 is when they set out from Earth, or when they landed on the planet.
Narklet probably wouldn't be able to hear it drop, but he might be able to see "falling stars" through the flap. But he also has been shown to look up to the nebula and mention "guiding spirits", so the ceiling flap really could just be a faith thing.

For some strange reason I hear the "Space Noise" from the Thunderbirds in my mind's ears after reading the strip.

I just noticed that the incoming yinglet addresses him as "Master Narklet" instead of "Patriarch Narklet". Is that a common thing for Patriarchs, or is that something unusual? Also wondering about the significance of that green nose stripe.
Aaargh, so much mystery around Narklet! I need more info! ^_^;;

I don't think Narklet is old enough to be a Patriarch nor can he pass on his specialisaton to others (like farming, cooking, stealthiness like Vislet's Patriarchs do). Plus i think the Elders want to keep Narklet's ability a secret, especially as even Viracroix noticed how uncanny they seem to know where to find these artifacts are.
Also his ability to "Listen" might be more like an instinctive ability to understand the effects of the astral bodies on the oceans (something humans figured out about the tides long before even gravity itself was understood) so he would know when and where the tide would be about to change.

Narklet is officially the Patriarch of Scavenging as shown on OOPs #28, but basically was installed by the Elders of the Southern Enclaves in order for them to exert pressure on Vizlet and keep her from "abandoning the traditions of their people" and embrace human culture too completely. While he might not be able to train a protege in his skill, it likely wouldn't be seen as that unusual, there just wouldn't be a new Patriarch of Scavenging to take over after him unless someone comes along with enough of a knack to take over. The Enclave would just no longer have a Patriarch of Scavenging, as it's less about "fill these pre-defined roles" and more about "Anyone who gets good enough at a skill becomes a Patriarch of whatever they're good at". There's probably a lot of skills that have popped up that just didn't find a receptive pupil to be passed on, so losing a Patriarch role just happens.
It's possible he's interpreting something in the Veil as "divine guidance", but it's hard to say. He's uncannily accurate, which seems unlikely that he'd be able to achieve that through just looking at the nebula, so I'm guessing there's something going on. Especially since he seems to know about Zhat Zhing, calling it "a sample". He has been shown to be spiritual, using meditation to seek answers, but I feel like he knows something extra that's informing him, like the site of an old ruin which is spreading debris through water currents he instinctively understands.

Oh, new character. Interesting.
It will be from the Enclave we know of or it will be a rival Enclave.
This is personal opinion but I feel that we have not seen much of the rivals of our human group and Yinglets protagonists. It would be interesting if the wise and perceptive Yinglet was from some rival Enclave. So if Kaz falls into her clutches she sees that there are other Yinglets with a different way of life, and from her stories and experiences she thinks that the Matriarch and her Enclave are wild and manipulative Monsters.
I mean, with that random mutations and selective breeding, it gives carte blanche for there to be stronger, more agile and intelligent Yinglet Enclaves than what we know of. Being a medium fish in a great ocean where they compete with other Enclaves that are better than them. And Kaz was a powerful Ace for upping her party's chances of survival and improvement. But, if bigger, better, and more numerous Enclaves discover this unusually intelligent female Yinglet it would break out into a big mess, there could even be inter-Enclave wars over Kaz. Like the Trojan War, but without wooden horses and troll gods laughing at the misfortune of the characters.

Narklet isn't a new character, he was introduced as the Patriarch of Scavenging in OOPs #21, and was seen again in OOPs #119 and OOPs #121. We haven't gotten to see much of him yet, or learn about his motivations or what he knows. He seems to keep to a different style than the others, likely because of his coming from the Southern Enclaves, so he definitely looks like he's not one of the Val Salian yinglets.
If Kass experienced another Enclave, they might have trouble overcoming his experience actually talking to Vizlet and others. The worst thing most of the Vizlet-critical yinglets would say is along the lines of "She zhinks human culture is better" and "She wants us to be more like za humans", which are things Kass would likely agree strongly with. So it'd be pretty hard for them to turn him against her.

Hi All! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
OOPs closed out last month at I think 39th place and around 975 votes, I believe the highest ranking it's reached yet. It's currently at 879 votes and 41st place. The top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes. We're approaching the end of the month, let's push those numbers up there!
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

I find it amazing that, after nine years and 220+ pages, there's still so much about the OOP world that remains shrouded in mystery. Val, you really know how to build and maintain suspense!
I love Narklet's expression in panel 2. He really does seem to be meditating at the start of this page, or perhaps communing with a higher power.
Beautiful page.

In terms of Narklet’s belief in the Guiding Spirits, either they’re legitimate or he’s bullshitting, and neither theory answers any questions.
If the Guiding Spirits were real, I feel like that crosses into religious territory (because he relies on faith) which in itself isn’t far from saying magic exists. Like, for example, the idea that Jesus could walk on water doesn’t adhere to any known laws of science.
So while I don’t think the Guiding Spirits exist within this universe, Narklet and The Elders just might. However, this wouldn’t explain how Narklet knows where to dig if he was receiving messages from above, and we know he truly believes of their existence because on page #119 in just his thoughts he asks the spirits for guidance.
Now, he could be shitting bulls by saying his info comes from the spirits when reality it’s from somewhere else like Beizel’s scouts, which on page #111 is said he has in fact done. He could be using this appearance to manipulate others into having faith in the Guiding Spirits like him and The Elders to gather loyalty, adoration, and trust. In a way, it’s like gathering an army to help support his cause. Then again, he’s not out there preaching to other yinglets to believe in the spirits, as far as we’ve seen. So, I could be wrong. Perhaps he’s keeping up false appearances because he did undoubtedly associate with an exile and maybe Brakka isn’t the only one. There could be other questionable methods and doings that he is dabbling in with his cute little yinglet paws that could ruin his image.
I sometimes wonder how ruthless or nefarious he might be. Vizlet without question sees Narklet as a killer if it’s in his interests. Working with an exile goes against what everyone knows about him but he did it, which means whatever he’s after must be very important to him.
Also, what does Narklet do all day? Oh wait, I know the answer: meditate 😉
