Millicent: Listen, out there, hundreds of our own die every day fighting them. Every day those tyrants and oppressors encroach further, leaving indiscriminate destruction in their path. Me, you, Katie... everything and everyone you have ever known is in danger. They must be stopped at all costs... and we need your help.

The more you build up 'the enemy' in someone's head before they've ever met them, the further from their expectations they'll be when they're actually met. If you build them up so high that the real deal seems tame in comparison, they might not trust other things you've said, or worse, decide that you've just been manipulating them for your own ends.
