Background:
Originally, Korra wasn't even supposed to exist. Her mother Katherine had fallen in love with a woman so they couldn't have a child without a surogate or some kind of miracle. Katherine prayed enough that a goddess would answer her, but not a goddess, a succubus queen. Katherine would give up the rest of her fility in exchange for a child, and she would agree. Korra would be born happy and healthy and full of love. By the time Korra was born, Katherine's original village was destroyed by displacer beasts and Katherine's first daughter Rylie had fled from the feywild.
Growing up Korra was a ball of fluffy energy, she loved to run and climb and cause mischief. She always had trouble making friends though, the one she talked to the most was her mom when she was around, and Neoma, Katherine's pet cat-moth.
Neoma was a mysterious creature, not many are often seen in the feywild, but she could telepathically talk with Korra. Not even Katherine could understand Neoma, so for whatever reason she chose Korra, and she always kept Korra out of danger.
