In my ongoing quest to learn watercolour, I forced myself to do some at FC2011 for people's commissions instead of marker. I had no idea what the hell I was doing with this, just got the paint and pressed go, and it's certainly the best piece I have ever done with the medium! I used my rigger brush for the branches and felt like a real artist man.

Beautifully, beautifully done, V. As someone remarks, you seem pretty good at anything visual that you turn your paw to (just eat the flattery, dammit :), and it's nice to see how the skills of light and sight immediately transfer across media.
Although, the canine muzzle and the didge? I'm thinkin' of a sled-dog...

And you say you had no idea what you were doing? Goodness... I think it came out quite nice! I love the way the mostly warm colors blend with each other. Watercolor has this ethereal feel to it, and you work it quite nicely.
You don't give yourself enough credit, I'll say! ^_^

This is beautiful! Quite wonderful watercolor work. Very nice textures on the character. You suggested the layering and coarseness of the fur really well, I'd say. The foliage is also quite well done.
I can't wait to see more of these from you. Watercolor is one of my favorite media, though it's challenging!

I know who that guy is! and ahh that is pretty close to his personality most of the time, I used belong to the same club he did for a while. He would play that all the time.
I think you have pretty good mastery of watercolor now, by the way. Because the hardest part in watercolor is to know when to stop.

Just wanted to say thanks (again) for the great work on this. It's now framed and mounted on my wall, and it looks even better for it :) For your first attempt, this is stunning, and looks highly professional to my eye.
My *only* qualm (and I know it's my fault since I didn't give you *any* referencing at all for it) is that you foxed the muzzle with that black line there ;) Dingoes don't have such on the muzzle. But no matter. Next time I'll be better prepared!
