Chapter 17 of Oseille, in which Ciara meets the Queen of Blackpool, and Alana returns to show her true colors.
Poor Alana. I had forgotten it took me this long to bring her back into the story. What a way to treat one of my favorite characters.

Intriguing... Sabia, I confess I really don't like at all at this stage. She's not a character I completely despise in the way I do Marcan, but though there is an element almost of admiration for this proud old lynx I don't find her a very attractive person to say the least. Alana, by contrast, comes across much, much better now than she did on her first appearance, and I rather regretted it when Ciara made her decision to run -- though I suspect that she'd have been at risk if she'd stayed, even if not directly from Sabia.
You're not really meant to like her. Again, I tried to make her a little bit more complicated than just your generic villain, and it's arguable that she has one or two good points. But she's not really a nice person. I am glad that you've warmed up to Alana, though. She is someone who's meant to be a sympathetic character, for all that she starts off as a bit mysterious and threatening. Thanks again for reading, and all the comments. It's kind of nice to get fresh comments from someone who doesn't already know the story, and yours are always very interesting to read.
