I slightly redesigned Bastet, the God-Queen of the Divine Felis Kingdom. Obviously my skill improved a bit since last time, but I also based her more on the idea people have of ancient Egyptian nobility, so now I guess she resembles more the legendary figure of Cleopatra, rather than the actual Cleopatra. And I am fine with that.
WARNING - LORE DUMP:
The ruler of the Cat Kingdom is the God-Queen, always called Bastet. It is a hereditary position. A female is chosen from the first litter after the current ruler reaches mid-age (usually the 57th-63rd red alignement of the three moons of Zatilo, the gas giant Ark orbits (a Red Conjuction of the moons happens around 3 times a year so 57-63 conjunctions is approx. 19 to 21 yrs of age, on our calendar). The remaining offspring are castrated (if males) and care for the God-Queen in her palace as servants.
The current incarnation of Bastet is still relatively inexperienced, and yet to go through her first true heat (females of the cat people under go one or two false heats in the years preceding true sexual awakening). So she is not the jaded ruler people come to expect from the Cat-queen just yet.
Although, in principle, the God-Queen is the ultimate authority in the Kingdom, in actuality she is little more than an abstract political figure, with the actual political power being centred on the most wealthy merchant clans that surround the monarchy. This does not mean she is powerless, as the God-Queen retains control over considerable private military power so the kingdom effectively functions through a balance between the noble merchant political and economic power and the military might under the control of the God-Queen.
But there might be more: whispers tell of a legendary army of undead warriors, controlled through ancient magic and left as a gift from the Creator Gods to the First Bastet. Some swear that only the God-Queen knows the secret to their activation and control. Many are the scholars, priests and raiders that are attracted from all over the world by this legend, but how that knowledge is passed from one Bastet to the next and whether this fantastical army truly exists remains a mystery.
The People are several races of furries that were created by humanity in the far future through genetic manipulation and then used to seed a moon of a gas giant with life. The original intent was to not only study the development of intelligent life in a controlled environment, but also to create companion races for humanity in its quest for the stars. Eventually, the People came to view Humans as their creator gods. Humanity lived among the People for an age, until an unspecified cataclysm destroyed the wormholes used by humans to travel instantaneously to the moon (the Crimson Gates) and made it impossible for humanity to reach them.
This event destroyed a large portion of landmass and now no one remembers what the gods looked like and each race fashions them to their likeness. The political intrigues and wars between the races was all that consumed the People for millennia, until a young vixen from an isolated, tribal village, is forced to flee for her life and make her way in the wider world...
