Concerning the lines in SAI, have you tried using the stabilizers? Up top, there is a drop down menu where you can have a delay on your lines, and it's helpful for more even-looking strokes. It helps me out a lot, and a lot of people don't always know what that feature does. Then again, I could never draw in Flash. Major props to you for being able to!
Also, Vocaloid isn't a show. It's actually a program in Japan where you can make your own music. The mascot characters are so popular that there is a very solid fanbase with all kinds of content focusing on them. ~*The more you know*~
