Hmmm I'll tell you what: try it in small doses. :D Trust me, that's how I got myself to work on large scales like this, because goddamn, I usually can't be bothered to work with small details. XD Once you start with baby steps, the patterns start getting larger and larger until you find yourself working for hours on one giant hand-made pattern like a madman. :B
But oh my god, don't kill yourself with a .05 pen right off the bat, that is carpel tunnel death right there. x.x I started switching to my .1 pen because of it, haha.

Ah, thankyou! c: I'm glad people appreciate my overly tedious patterns, haha. XD And yep, the teeth and claws were both done with a Sakura White Gelly roll pen, and the I think the other white patterns were done with my fatter Signo pen. The Signo tends to skip when it's dying, that's why the circular highlights look broken, though it does give a nice effect when placed appropriately. o:
Sorry about the long answer, I'm a nerd for art supplies. XD;

xP Guilty! I have tooo much love for art supplies! I have a smaller Signo pen and a broad one, the small one is the one I use most but it skips a lot as well, and I havn't even used it that much. The larger one is fine, but really its too big for a lot of things, need to find a really nice smooth smaller pen. The Sakura one looks like it gives pretty nice results though! Took me a bit to realise that the white edges was inked on and not white paper :P
Ohgosh you have a small one? D8 I had no idea small ones existed! I've just been buying these fat little poopers. XDD
And yeah, that seems to be the main problem with the Signo line, almost every online review goes along the lines of "Great, solid colour, skips like a bitch though!" Hmm, have you ever tried the 'bead' technique for your big pen? :o I've been using my fat signo for small spaces all the way up until recently, and the best way to make it work for you is to get it running and start moving around small beads of its ink for details. It's sort of the same process when you work with inkwash; before your brush starts to show signs of drying, you stop and leave a 'bead' of wetness to continue from after you reload your brush. Same concept, though it takes a bit to work with. Once you do, you can use it for itty bitty detail areas without wanting to rip out your hair. :D
I hope I make sense. XD
Ohyes, the Sakura one is pretty nice. c: However, it's opaque on certain surfaces like cardboard, which isn't much of a deal unless you're...well, working on cardboard. XD Then that's when the Signo comes in handy. Yep! That's all careful white edging with minor touchups if I get retarded and run over the lines. c:
...Wow, it is very apparent that I've tried too many brands of white pens/inks in order to get to this point. XD

Well I say small but its about standard pen size, same size as normal uni-ball pens, so not super small, but the other one I have is quite a bit bigger and leaves a LOT more ink, makes a huge fat line xD but its a nicer white colour than the smaller one, more bright.
I honestly havn't tried that! I'll have to give it a go, if I can get used to doing that it'd be much easier, the broad pen almost never skips and the lines are a bit smoother than the small one, but I've barely used it because the lines are also so much thicker if you just draw with it. Another thing I've noticed with the small one is if you use it on top of some colour pencils it sort of sucks up the colour. Instead of drying a nice clear white it'll be a pastel of whatever colour its eaten, do you get that as well with yours? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2515036/ can see it on that one with the main purple colour compared to the highlights on the left badge and the hair.
Haha it's all good xD it's finding one thats great enough to really work with :D I went through a few before finding these ones :D compared to the other's they are fantastic even if they do still have some problems. Next time I'm out getting art stuff I'll have to see if I can get one of the sakura ones, they sound pretty epic :D

Definitely give that a go, it's worth the trouble once you learn how to drag a dot around! <3 The only thing I forgot to say is keep tabs on how much ink you're drawing out aswell; you'll wind up with a puddle if you're not paying attention. That's happened to me so many times, trust me. XD
Ohhh! :o Yep, that's happened to me a few times. I found that out when I used colour pencils for a school project and wanted to add some white highlights to my work. What it winds up doing is dragging loose pigment from the pencils into its ink; that's how you get that weird pastel mix. An easy, though annoying sort of fix, is to let the ink dry fully and give it a once-over, though that may cause some ugly doubling up. :x
Man I know what you mean, I have a little baggy of 'testers' that I've accumulated over the years. White pencils, white charcoal pencils, deco pens...you name it, I've probably bought it and tested it if I haven't already done so in the store. :D Awesommmee. <3 Tell if you like the little buggers if you do! :B

Haha oki, will keep that in mind as well! Will have to mess around doing a few personal pieces for a while before anything else xD
Hmmm oki, will have to try the doubling up if I can get away with it, I know a few times I've tried that and its still soaked up colour, but it's probably because I didn't leave it long enough xD Will mess around with that more and see if I can work it out, it might even be the pencils I'm using D:
Guilty :P I have so many testers and sets of so many art supplies, markers, pencils, paints etc, its kinda crazy, I really need to go through them all at some point xD Hopefully will be able to get to my usual art store soon and have a look for them :D if not, will try ebay haha.
