We finally reach the conclusion of Book 2. This one covers a lot more "in-universe time" than most chapters, so things are pretty compressed. It's an epilogue, so to speak, so things are pretty calm and go smoothly. That also means there's a fair amount of detail that gets kinda glossed over to try to keep things moving.
I'm trying not to beat myself up too much over it, but I do worry that it's not a great chapter. If I was to combine these into a published novel, I might try to trim earlier parts of the book to make room for more ending or something, but I also couldn't really think of good ways to keep momentum on something that's winding down. Still, I don't think it's a bad chapter, necessarily. I dunno.
I have ideas for Book 3, but I want to try to plan things out better. I might take a bit of a break between Books. I want to try to get an outline and decide exactly what I want the Duo to face and how I want them to handle things, instead of flying by the base of my tail like I did with a lot of Books 1 and 2. I had some "big things" in mind that I could set stuff up in advance for, but a lot of it was also just, "Here's the situation they're in, what do they do now? Oh, they've been doing stuff for 7000 words now? Guess this is where I break the chapter up, okay." ^_^;;
When it comes to word counts, Chapter 30 is 7275 words, making it the 10th longest chapter. Book 1 was a total of 104,811 words, while Book 2 came in at a total of 106,679. This makes the grand total 211,490. However, Book 1 also has those "recap" segments. Those add roughly 2000 words, give or take. Still, I'm pretty proud of the amount I've written so far, and hopefully I can make Book 3 an even better story. It will also probably be the last book for Princess, just because I'm not sure what else I can do with them that won't have already been done. I guess we'll see. ^_^;;

Glad you're enjoying it. ^_^
I'm not certain I'll end it after Book 3, maybe I'll be inspired with ideas for a Book 4. But right now, it feels like by the end of Book 3, I'll have trouble finding good ways to really challenge the Duo. I don't want to end up with power creep/scope creep making the books ridiculous and not fun, after all. We'll see how it goes. ^_^;;
I'll still have other stories, and I'll probably come up with new ones. And I can always tell new stories with new characters in the same setting, like "Exodimensional Hoofbun Flopsy", so it's not like it's the last we'll ever see of Terra. Who knows how the future will unfold?

Possibly. Currently, I had planned on them being "normal", but one or more might end up intelligent... Or maybe I'll introduce someone in Book 3 that could be spun off into a main character. If I do pick one of the hatchlings, I'd have to either pick one of the males I never got around to naming, or talk to the person she's named after. All three named hatchlings (Relia, Taya, and Koralldon) are named after friends online, after all. I just happen to know more female dragons and few males, it seems. ^_^;;
From what I can tell, the most significant hanging thread is those Brotherhood of Shadow goobers. Seeing as how they seem to be either a secret society or some kind of crime syndicate they do seem fitting as a potential antagonist at some point.
And the Duke's never been shown in person as yet either, since Roffil's his son I'd imagine he probably would be someone important sooner or later.

I keep meaning to come back to that Brotherhood, but their presence in the area is still pretty low, and other stuff kept popping up. They're definitely one of several things I'm considering for Book 3. As for the Duke, he's a busy man, he doesn't have time to meet with EVERY pair of cross-world arrivals displaying a startling amount of magical aptitude or running into completely unprecedented situations... But yeah, one of the other considered threads involves a threat to the entire city of Winselton, which would get the Duke involved.
The other two main threads, well, one is definitely going to be happening and the other may or may not. ^.^;;

They're a symptom of the barrier between worlds straining and wearing down, but they heal naturally. There's (usually) no sort of force involved, but sometimes beings can cause issues, like when Horace Augustine accidentally tore one into reality by trying to channel raw Chaos to gain power. They happen roughly every thousand years or so, but since nobody was really able to comprehend much about them, records have been garbled or lost and so it's only with the context of witnessing them that people are seeing historical "devastating, unseasonal storms of unparalleled destruction" records in a new light.
Book 3 will definitely be going deeper into the nature of the Storms, the Chaos Void, and "bubbles" of reality such as Earth and Terra. I actually didn't have certain details of this figured out until some point during the hiatus, but also nobody's really been in a position to be able to get answers yet. ^_^;;

If poor Flopsy's creator hadn't been killed, we'd have even more portals. Undoubtedly, others will also find ways to open them, and the Winselton guild is likely to spread their knowledge slowly. Over the next five years, several cities will have them, I imagine, but they'll still be single digit numbers and kept pretty quiet.
