Fragments of Memory
Chapter 1: Pen of uselessness
The slight breeze flows past the town, every door is locked, the homes have so much damage, none could inhabit them without hiring to get it repaired. In the plaza, lies an unconscious child, red hair, eyes, a simple pink and black striped shirt, red jacket, gray pants, and shiny brown shoes awakes within the town. Upon searching, he finds nothing of value, and one bridge leading to another island perhaps? The bridge is long, and the human wished he had brought more food, but why had he awoken at that place, he could not recall. The breeze promptly returns, but this time.. with some magic and the smell of hot metal mixed in. The child brandished his knife, the Soul Knife as he called it as he quickened his pace, stepping near a field of battle! Some tall armored figure stood center stage, the armor made of metal, dark green and the brightest purple hue a normal man could see electric purple was too bright and Iris was too dark. “Come at me, fools! Not even your strongest weapon can even damage this armor!” Their confidence speaks for itself, as any soldier who even came close to hitting them merely broke the weapon, and they were simply knocking out any troop that came close. The child couldn’t stand for it, and walked forward, the figure hesitating. “I was unaware that the Resistance had children enrolled in their numbers.” They seemed genuinely confused, but the child took it as a chance to throw a simple fireball at them. It came and contact and didn’t seem to do much, but it DID do SOMETHING! “Erm..” The armored figure once more hesitates, before regaining their composure. “At once, Retreat!” They shout before a binding white light surrounds them, and they are simply gone, the more professional group seems to be heading away from the place. The Resistance troops seem to gather around the child, surprised by his ability to use magic. They gawk over him until a blue reptile steps out, the armor clinks as the reptile moves closer, the troops remaining, move out of his way. “It has been a long, LONG time since we have seen anyone who could use magic. What is your name child?” The blue scaled lizard man asks. “It’s Jax.” The child replies quickly, and he is invited into their Base of Operations without a second thought, lead to an empty room. “You may rest here for tonight, if you so wish.” The lizard man says with a bow. “It’ll do for the night. Thank you.” Jax says, as he is left alone to dream the night away.
Meanwhile…
The walls hang of lanterns, the scent of wax filling anyone within the fortress. 2 men are sitting while a blue scaled lizard man stands next to one of the men. “Kishak? How go the experiments?” One man asks, who looks in about his mid 30’s, with a large beard, beady brown eyes, and a glare Kishak nor the lizard man enjoyed looking at. “I.. It goes as planned sir. Mostly as planned. The two royal family members we had escaped.” Kishak, a scientist who sits opposite of the man, who now has an angry expression on his face. “THEY WHAT?!” He shouts, hands slamming on the table. “B.. but sir we still have their best friend, if.. if it comes down to it, we can use him as leverage!” Kishak replied, nervously sweating. The man sighs.“Drazil, do we have any information on this Jax that helped us earlier?” He asks, his second in command. “No sir, Jax does not exist on any record I could find.” Drazil says, arms behind his back, keeping a straightened posture, a monotone tone, and an expressionless face as he replies. “So.. he is NOT one of ours?” He asks, turning back to Kishak. “Never seen that kid in my whole life!” Kishak replies, as the other man stands, heading to the window. “Hmm.. what could this mean?” He asks, staring at the stars.
