Struggling to cope with the death of his brother and former advisor, as well as the aftershocks of a failed assassination attempt on his life, a reluctantly reinstated Cassius picks up the shards of a House Adastra whose interstellar reputation has plummeted to new lows.
Vowing to spiritually avenge Amicus and assert a new age of Adastran hegemony within the galactic Landsraad, Cassius must first avert a Civil War as the consuls threaten to tear the moon apart.
To do this, he forges a clandestine research agreement with House Omorfa to create a stretch drive sans Parental technology, and unite the moon under a new common cause as the Wolves return to stellar dominion.
No one knows exactly what Cassius's intentions are after a stretch drive is made, but whispers of war worry the mighty rival, House Khemia.
Can Cassius be persuaded off a dangerous and deadly path...?
-
Just an idea. I don't actually have the energy or time to write a whole fan project for another intellectual property, on top of all of my actual extant stories.
But I imagine this grittier version of Adastra, whose aesthetics are a little more inspired by Dune than an element of whimsy the original had, would tackle a couple serious themes.
What's the right way to diffuse a dormant Imperial giant?
How can one mourn and be supported when one's support network implodes?

"While he would never outwardly acknowledge it, Cassius remembers the new resolve he felt in Amicus, the strength after choosing a human partner from the planet Earth. Cassius thought the human was handsome as well, but would never dare concede that to the young man, and certainly not to Amicus.
Companionship with an Earth man would be at the least thrilling, but perhaps even rewarding. The fledgling 'self-made' siblings are becoming more comfortably aligned with the Khemians each day. That amount of influence would be impossible for Adastra, but Cassius' cursory understanding of human nature is enough know; they love to disagree. If even some portion of humanity favored the Adastrian way, that would be enough to potentially slow any kind of formal alliance and buy himself some time.
A human pet or rather, a partner would be very beneficial..."
