I held my 6th Voice Acting Workshop panel at FC2011. In previous panels, I'd gotten great feedback when I open the panel by recording and editing a one-page script, giving the attendees a chance to see how audio productions are made. In previous panels, I'd written the script either on my own or basing them on other works, but in this case,
dorallizard surprised me with his own original script for a radio commercial.
Because I wanted to use it as an ad break in a podcast, I asked him to add an endorsement from an FBA player. We decided on Victor Vos for being the biggest sellout in the league (without being Lance Cheval). He added the endorsement, shortened up the script to one page, and I opened my panel by recording the lines for it.
And here's the final product. Unfortunately, I was in too much of a rush preparing for the panel to have the music and sound effects ready, so I had to take this home and finish it in my studio. But I think it came out really well!
Also-- I was a dummy and forgot to ask the names of the people who played the voices. Does anyone know who played the announcer in this?

Pharmacist: OK, so your co-pay is going to be $100...
You: What? I thought my insurance covered it!
Pharmacist: Have you seen what this stuff comes in? Your insurance covers the other $900, sir. Now, would you like us to deliver it via U-Haul or can your car handle a 55 gallon drum filled to capacity?

Thank you so much for coming, Showtime! And yeah-- it's funny. I was originally told that the convention only allows 90 minute panels, but they made an exception for me because they thought the panel would be popular.
You're right, I'm sure I could have easily gone another 30 minutes. I always feel badly when not everyone who wants to record gets to step up the mic.

Rabalin, the official anti-rabies medication of the FBA.
XD This sure gave me a good laugh. ^^
I can't help but wonder, though... what might happen should an FBA player actually get rabies? Would they be considered too dangerous to play or would Rabalin be enough to keep them from being a danger to others?
Just a thought. XP

Use only as directed.
The original version of the script had a long list of side effects from taking Rabalin. It was hilarious, and I would have loved to add it, but I've learned I need to make sure my scripts for the panel is short. I had to ask
dorallizard to cut out a lot of good stuff, including the side-effects.
Maybe at some point, I'll record the full length version.

Thanks! I actually worked really hard on that phone-filter effect. Usually I just slap one on and leave it at that, but for some reason I felt like it didn't sound right when it was as nasty sounding as I usually make it. I opened up the filter more than I usually do.
To me, I think it sounds less like it was done over the phone and more like it was done at another studio using a last-minute crew. Like they just grabbed the intern, threw him at the board and said, "Record this guy!" FTP the file and cut it in 5 minutes before airing.
And yes, I've been that intern.

It really was brilliant seeing you put this thing together. You were a player of the keyboard, smooth on the stokes and clicks, rolling down the soundwaves with the greatest of ease, pushing down the line with...I think I'm crossing metaphores.
Anyway, it was an awesome panel and I have a great appreciation for yer audio productions. Keep up the smashing work. *tips Hat*

This was just flat out hilarious to watch being recorded! I think you've got a winning formula, with a funny mini-ad at the beginning of the panel and the beef of the script at the end. ^^ Now all you need is more time!
Rourkie's first growl attempt = comedy at its finest! XD

Thanks, JT! Yeah, I need to remember to tell everyone that they can use the script as just a guideline. The very best voice acting always comes from unscripted things, or just having something happen that no one expected. Like that growl attempt. But one of my favorite parts of running the panel is the laughter I get. It tells me everyone's having a good time.
Thank you, XL! I'm so glad you liked how this came out. I really can't thank you enough for taking the time to write a script for me. It's a huge help, and a great new challenge for me. There's something different about working on a project I've thought out from inception and producing something from another source. I hope I get to do more stuff like this!
