~2022 (old watermark)
Well, in my defense, I’ll say that listening to Scandinavian music inspired me to draw her and didn’t let go. Although it's winter and obviously not the right time, let's just say that I was obsessed with the idea xD And the winter drawings will be too...
Shira or the Witch of Dark Waters (Agosa and Geest's mother; Azegor's mate) as Sideress in a swamp with the rune Hagalaz depicted on her forehead in ocher.
Without her shamanic jewelry as I wanted to show her eyes, which are usually hidden since, ''she doesn't need eyes to see''. She has congenital cataracts in both eyes, resulting in a cloudy lens.
There is a lot of mystical around her in an eerie sense, although, to me personally, she does not seem evil. But she was known among the Sangars as the ''Witch of Dark Waters''. Severyanka, like Agosa. She was born blind and has never seen anything but darkness. However, she not only survived, but also learned to feel the world around her. She doesn't need eyes to see, and she never complained about fate. Her philosophy revolves around the circle of Life and Death. They called her the Witch because they thought she was cursed. And ''Dark Waters'' is a frightening side of Shira as a mother: all her cubs, with the exception of two, were stillborn (did not hatch or died almost immediately) or with various defects - Shira lowered such cubs into the cold water of underground rivers and lakes... that is, drowned them.
She cannot be called evil or cruel; rather, she understood what her cubs would live in such a crippled body and their fates will bring nothing but suffering. This can be called a kind of mercy, although many preferred to avoid Shira and keep their cubs away from her. But those who did not believe or were in despair turned to her, since Shira was a wise healer, even if her practices had a dark side. Spiritual Appearance: A black raven with a bare skull. She could heal both the body and the soul, but she always reminded that Death would be waiting for them wherever they went.
Relationships with the surviving cubs, especially Agosa, hmm... are conflicting. Not a bad mother, but she definitely had pressure on her daughter and instructions about duty to the family. Shira and Delferak made an alliance between dynasties by choosing a party for their young: Salgir and Agosa - in order to strengthen and continue their dynasties. The union was voluntary, as the young were in love, but their relationship was formed in a short time and not tested for months. In the end it led to what it led to...
Shira seems mysterious to me, she clearly understood Life more deeply and was not afraid of Death, being with her on ''you''. Someone says that she made a deal with Death and that she gave her healing abilities. But the Sangars have many legends and many superstitions. It is difficult to understand where the truth is, I think in the middle.
And yes, Agosa later loses her sight due to injuries inflicted on her by her own son Amadeus - so the ominous feeling of 'curse' and inevitability does not leave ...
