I did this picture for the Monthly Gargoyle Contest in May 2004. The theme was Fantasy Gargoyles and at the time I had adopting dragons from an alternet-Pern time line. To make things short there were such things as duo-winged dragons from the "Weyr" I sent Pleiades to.

As you notice, she also sports two sets of wings on her back. This being she is one of my most favorite designs yet also hardest designs for my gargoyles. Two sets of wings are hard to handle at times and even harder to draw in flight though I managed it once.

Being that Pleiades was a candidate, there is a long story about her pre-candidate days, candidate days, and shortly after her duo winged green dragon Gaviaktrath was hatched. This particular scene happens when Gaviaktrath finds out how Pleiades would normally sleep, in particular it's after her panic attack at not fully being able to sense Pleiades' conscienceness while she slept in stone sleep.

The dragon design was used with permission of Tiyanni, the person who drew the dragon that I adopted and who ran the "Weyr" where she hatched.
