My bank account was running low, again, and I'd heard the cafe was hiring. I'm fine being a server, and the the cafe's name - "Black and White" - didn't set off any alarm bells. But I really should have been a little more suspicious when the woman on the video chat asked me for my measurements. "For the uniform," she told me, and I never thought to ask what the uniform was. I just assumed it would be the normal slacks and polo shirt or tee. No big deal, I'd had plenty of jobs, and most of them had a uniform of some sort.

Of course, I'd failed to take my luck into account. Or lack of it.

I really should have pressed the issue when she had me stand and turn around slowly, then murmured, "He'll do." But a near-empty bank account will make a person not ask questions that may make them reconsider their new hire.

It was only when I arrived for my first day that I discovered I had applied at a maid cafe. I debated just walking back out, but they had all my contact info, and I couldn't afford to be charged for the uniform they'd ordered and tailored specifically for my measurements and wings. The boss insisted I wear a wig, too. Which, of course, also was charged to my pay.

At least I had plenty of experience as a waiter. And as a waitress...
