Steve: Keep going kid, you need to hold that arch for 60 seconds!
Nick: *groaning in exhaustion* I'm trying... *faints and falls flat on turntable*
Steve: And now you're tumbling uncontrollably. Keep your back arched!
Nick: I'm sorry, sir...
Steve: You can do it, don't get flustered. One more time, get into freefall position!
Nick: *arches the hell out of his body*
During skydive ground school in Spain I noticed that I have to improve in MANY ways, and it starts at my body itsself. Years of not working out properly have gotten their payback at me whilst doing the exercises that my instructor gave me. Actually, it was only one, and that's the most important thing to do when you either get unstable or have a bad exit - ARCH. Which means, bend your back backwards, hips down, hold your arms in a 90 degree angle and your legs in a 45 degree angle. It doesn't look like much, but it was INSANELY EXHAUSTING TO DO. Especially when you have to do it for the duration of the freefall, which is about 60 seconds. I have gotten better though. Doing exercises at home have helped me so far. And of course practicing the arch, as well as my emergency drills. As I said before, I plan to return to the DZ to complete the full jumping course. It's a long way of work, but I'm sure it will pay off if I stay at it.
So here is Nick (or me, lol) during ground school, getting preparation for the jumps. Added in Steve as my instructor, because who else if not him lol.
