Luminary: Badge I made for myself.
The badge is 3" X 4". I made the background in photoshop and printed it on photopaper. Then I used a black technical pen and acrylic paints on an acetate transparency for my character and my name. When I was done I overlaid the transparency on the background then put it in a badge holder. The end result makes it look like a cartoon cel. One of the things I like about it is that I can swap out the background later if I wanted to as it is a separate piece. :) Right now I have a "jungle" type background as I will be wearing this to NakamaCon 2011 to go with their jungle/safari theme this year.
Unfortunately, the scanner didn't pick up the color correctly like it should. My character is actually more colorful that what you see while the background is actually a little darker. The actual badge also looks more 3 dimensional than what you see here. The character and the name really pop out on the real thing, but it's just not something I can pick up with the scanner.
Frisket and I will be running an artist table at NakamaCon 2011. We are thinking about doing badge commissions in this fashion (badge holder included) both while we are there or possibly even for pick-up at the con if we have enough interest in them. Stay tuned for more information on what we will have at the con. If you are attending this convention, please stop by and say hello! We love meeting fellow furries! :)
