Original Species: Ulurian Marsupial Anteater
The dryer regions of Uluria, where rainforests make way for open scrublands, are home to yet another peculiar creature.
Scholars dubbed this beast the Ulurian Marsupian Anteater. Initial observations revealed that this lumbering beast possesses a fleshy pouch on its stomach in which it keeps its offspring.
This creature leads a solitary and lackadaisical lifestyle. It spends most of its time traveling from termite mound to termite mound, opening each bug nest with its formidable claws and slurping up insects with its tongue. Said tongue is covered with sticky saliva and can extend to over 2 meters (7 feet) in length.
Both the back and tail of this anteater have tightly packed rows of sharp quills, which provide the animal with ample protection from predators. Many scholars express concerns regarding the types of predators that would require the anteater to have such prominent defenses (all in conjunction with its already impressive size).
