Still trying to pull myself out of my art rut, but was somewhat inspired by a character a friend introduced me to last night, enough to make a quick 1-2 hour doodle.
The character in question is Deva from the Nintendo DS game Tornado; perhaps the only really remarkable thing about the game itself is that it attempts to be a take on Katamari Damacy for the system (and I remember much wailing and gnashing of teeth from fans when Namco had confirmed it wasn't coming to the system back in the day). Unfortunately the gameplay feels about as bargain bin as one could get at the height of the DS's, with some mechanics feeling actively feeling painful as you play (notably a continual rotating motion with the stylus to maintain your tornado's energy while using said motions to direct its movement), and the story as well to justify the setting of the world seems just as well explained and cared for (something about a villain using a Black Hole to suck up parts of the Earth, which you rescue by... sucking them up with your manufactured tornado?).
Although the cast of characters are perhaps a little more appealing, a team of cats called The Cosmic Cleaners who use their artificially generated tornados to clean up (?) Earth and other planets. You have several different feline heroes to control such as the super-hero themed Toki or the Tony-The-Tiger alike Russel. The one depicted here however is the team's mechanic and technical support Deva, and for the sake of mentioning I did not alter his design, he is infact wearing a diaper for his appearance in the game. I have yet to play enough to see if it has any justification; weather he's meant to be your common young-but-savant kid member of the team, but with most of his dialogue often expressing efficacy his choice may be more about taking fewer breaks from his work than anything else
