I think the creators wanted you to talk to your TV or something. And the ones who did where the ones palying through the game for the fifteenth time, shouting obsenities and the opposite of what the hero said.

Then you have people like me. I saved someone in a game, and then I started bitching to my TV about not getting payed. Ahh, the good ole days.

In the case of Link it was because the creators didn't want to put words in your mouth. They wanted you to feel like you were Link (or other RPG Hero). Shigeru Miyamoto actually said that.

Something like that anyway.

Yea, thats what I was getting at. I think most developers where like that.

If i was Link , when i see a monster , my first words will be "WTF , monster !!! DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE !!!"

If I was link, and I saw a monster, I would say exactly what he said when the Gorons dropped in on him after Dudongo Cave.
